Ie> new appliances, tile or other materials, new fixtures, additions or alterations to the environment and or other areas of the home during the same timeframe. I may have a contractor or be acting as my own contractor. Therefore, I am not to be charged sales tax on the labor portion of this job. I understand that the stone gallery if contracted to do the tearout of my old countertops will disconnect all plumbing, electrical and mechanical, however the stone gallery is not licenced in said trades and therefore will not be reconnecting any and all plumbing, gas, electrical or mechanical. If for any reason we cannot perform these actions it would be due to aging valves, ect.. And the homeowner will be involved and required to bring in the appropriate trade to correct so the stone gallery can complete its work. Sheetrock: We cut it on occasion for a better fit in the installation process. Also at times small amounts of sheetrock can become damaged and will need to be repaired after the stone gallery has completed your countertops. This is a normal part of a remodel and the stone gallery is not responsible for damages to sheetrock during the process. If the stone gallery does a tile tearout in your home. You are going to experience damage to the walls and or cabinets in the process. The stone gallery will be cautious, however, this is not an easy task and we will not be responsible for any damages done at time of tearout. Countertops need to be completely clear the day we come to install and our suggestion is to take out all drawers and put in a separate room to elimate cleaning later. Also, clean out all items under your sink area.I am stating that my home is under a remodel and I am doing more to the environment besides just countertops. You have chosen to purchase beautiful, natural stone countertops. Here are some things you should know, and fully understand, to appreciate and enjoy your new countertops. Stone is not man made, it is made by god, and thus is natural in appearance. It is cut from a mountain, face polished and then cut to size for your specific needs. It is important to understand stone will vary in shade and marking. These two reasons are the very reason you like your slab as it is not one solid color. These are what make stone… Well stone. Next to love granite you must love the entire slab and ultimate top location on said slab are exclusively left up to the fabricator upon production of your job. Stone will vary in texture. If you run your fingernail across the slab you may feel tiny fissures in the top and this is common and accepted in the industry. Some fissures are only as long as 2-3 inches, while others can be 15.18 inches. They do not affect the integrity of the stone. Stone is decorative. Do not stand, walk or put all your weight on the countertop. Especially at the cooktop or sink openings. Most countertop layouts require a seam or multiple seams. Any kitchen you ever stood in that was natural stone more than likely had seams. Your kitchen will be no different. Stone and quartz seams are visible! Your salesperson will go over seam location with you today and you will sign for the approx. Location. Ultimate seam location is left to the fabricator based on the material you chose and the characteristics of stone. Next seams will be fused with a hard product that is colorize to match your countertops and smoothed to make presentable long term. Stone with movement on the slab will incur a noticeable collision at the seams and is unavoidable. Sealing of your countertops is required every 6 weeks unless you option to have us apply our proprietary sealer “Permaseal” at which point you will have a maintenance free countertop with a 15 year warranty, transferable with the home. If you opt, not to get Permaseal staining can and will occur and sometimes be impossible to remove. The Stone Gallery, Inc. believes in educating our customers on the products that they are purchasing to ensure your complete customer satisfaction. It is best to use a cutting board on marble and all stones when preparing food. Marble can be etched by acidic foods and or harsh chemicals. For this reason, in kitchen environments we put a satin (honed) finish on all countertops within the cooking area. For vanities and other tops outside the cooking area, gloss finish is acceptable. The honed finished applied in our shop, minimizes etching that occurs on marble countertops, giving you the best of both worlds and allowing you to enjoy your countertops with minimal maintenance. Marble will come to you sealed with our exclusive sealer “permaseal” . This sealer eliminates all stains that would otherwise occur under normal use. This sealer lasts 3 years at which point you will need to either call us to reapply or order sealer and have a diy weekend. Either way, you will be able to cook with oils and use red wine without issue or worry of staining occurring during the warranty period. The underside of marble is not polished. Marble backsplashes are more fragile than the countertops because of their small size. Backsplashes that are long and thin have a tendency to break. Therefore, there may be seams in the backsplash that do not coincide with the seams in the countertop. Most marble applications contain seams. All seams are seen and felt. Seams in white marble will appear more noticeable. Seam sizes range in width and can be as much as 1/8”. This seam size is standard and acceptable in the industry. Your marble countertops will come with a standard round over edge. All other edges are discouraged as they can be prone to chipping on the leading edge. So just relax! The best advise we can give you is to relax. Marble is a great product for the home and has been done in both commercial environments (every mall floor you ever saw) and residential environments. Europe is covered in marble and has been for 100’s of years at this point. At the end of the day you have the stone gallery here to help if you or your visiting grandma did something to the marble. Chances are we can repair it… Thank you for your purchase.I understand that marble is prized for its aesthetic appeal, accentuated by distinct veining and often bold colors, however, marble is minimally softer than granite and can scratch if abused by household appliances and or cooking tools.
